Chocolate Hummus

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a dessert or a vegetable...but even my hubby ate it!
Prep Time: 2 mins   Cook Time: 5 mins  (not really sure on these)

3 TB butter, softened
1/2 cup Dutch processed cocoa
15oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/8 cup almond paste
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
4 TB warm water

Place the chickpeas and almond paste in a blender and chop.  Make sure the almond paste is sufficiently broken up or you'll find surprise chunks in your hummus. Add the butter, cocoa, sugar, vanilla and salt.  Use a lower setting on the blender such as mix to combine the ingredients.  Slowly add the warm water and process until it reaches the desired smoothness.

TIPS:
I have read other recipes that use peanut butter instead of the almond paste and butter.  It is a truly flexible recipe and you can't go wrong with having something sweet and semi-healthy.  Another suggestion, and how I made it the second time, is to add a 1/2 tsp of instant espresso.  This gave it a little more of a 'dark chocolate' feel and this was the recipe that Zach ate.  We dipped fruit and pretzels in it!
